But it’s more than a catchy logo splashed across our social media sites. BOLD defines our new Mission Statement and Values, putting muscle behind the core values of the Granger-Hunter Improvement District.
Organized in 1950, GHID has grown from 312 connections by 1953 to serving a population of 120,000 with more than 364 miles of water lines, eight storage reservoirs, eight deep water wells, 350 miles of wastewater collection lines, and 17 wastewater pump stations.
We take our role as stewards of Utah’s water supply very seriously, defining it in our mission as delivering water that is clean and safe for daily use and collected responsibly to protect public health and the environment. We know we’re not alone in our quest, in Utah, across the country and around the world, where one in 10 don’t have clean water and one in three don’t have access to a decent toilet.
Our commitment is nothing new, but when it comes to our core values, we’re going BOLD:
• Be it – We walk the talk. To be BOLD, we must be honorable, protecting our good name and our public esteem with a responsible operation.
• Own it – We know what is needed and we are up to the job of supervising and taking care of your needs. You have put your trust in us and we own what that means, living up to your expectations.
• Lead it – It’s more than going through the day-to-day motions. We must lead, assessing situations such as an aging infrastructure and initiate things independently so that we’re not only providing you with some of the best water today, but ensuring that future generations will have access to clean, usable water as well.
• Do it – With this, our mission comes full circle. In serving you since 1950, we’ve proved ourselves worthy of your trust, which in turn empowers us to act in your best interest. The authority and power you’ve given us enables us to do what we do for you.
BOLD lays it all on the line, the obligation we have taken on as the chosen stewards of this most valuable resource. It’s an effort that we share with you as well, in conserving your household use of water and financially supporting projects such as upgrading the Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility. Together, we’ll protect our future by looking after the present.
